From Hamburg to Orbit

A quick tour of what we are building right now. Explore the missions below and dive into their dedicated pages for the full story.

Intra-Satellite communication

BOLT

Beamed Optical Light Transmission (BOLT) explores the usage on LiFi for Intra-Satellite Communications in real world scenarios. We want to approach the current weaknesses of LiFi, building on the research of Project SatelLight.

CubeSat Development

HANS

Hamburg Automated Northern lights Survey (HANS) will autonomously captures aurora imagery as part of our first ever CubeSat mission, deciding onboard when conditions meet science targets and prioritizing the most valuable frames for downlink.

  • Smart onboard filtering to save power and storage.
  • On-orbit image classification to rank what gets sent to Earth first.
  • Designed to validate commercial-off-the-shelf components in space.

Build with THHOR

We welcome students across disciplines who are ready to ship hardware and software to space. In addition to that we are also looking for people eager to run our outreach campaign, communicate with Partners or do other "non-technical" stuff.
